what does it offer that lugnet.space does not? How exactly would a new site

have in its functionality that would make the community any better. I mean
the quality of the community is determined by the people in it rather than
the hardware/software that is hosting it.

But tiny, compartmentalized quickie forums setup elsewhere are not the
answer. I’m not making a commentary on classic-castle...but even one of the
admins for that site recognizes the importance of keeping the community
together as much as possible.

I would like to second these statements, but from a different perspective. I
rarely build anything space-related, and I almost never post here. But I like
being able to see what you space guys are building and talking about through
LUGNET. If all this space activity went over to a specialized site, I would
never know about it.
My main focus as a builder is castle, and I am not happy about the movement of
activity off LUGNET and onto classic-castle.com. I just don’t have time to check
a bunch of different forums - especially lame message boards that can’t compare
to the functionality of LUGNET.
I guess some people would rather be a big fish in a small pond.
