thanks Jon!
yeah, I was actually surpirsed at how well it all came together. Especially
since I haven't built anything in almost a year :P
I made a sketch of a mecha yesterday afternoon, and it just screamed out to
be built. I was having a hard time imagining it from different angles.
That's the one thing I love most about Ldraw, it allows me to tinker until I
can get just the perfect angle and lighting of a moc.
After doing the swordfish and ves-x in Ldraw, I learned a ton of stuff that
made this easier to do, especially using sub-models for movable sections!
as for the actual vehicle itself, I forgot to mention what it is... oops!
It is a war machine inspired by the various walkers from Star Wars. I am
not a big fan of mecha... not because I don't think they are "cool" (most
mecha are quite cool looking IMO), but mainly because I don't think humanoid
shapes will be used if and when we ever see such things built.
The large fin on top is actually the main weapon housing. It contains
technology that agitiates the Earth's ionosphere and magnetosphere, using a
bank of fusion capacitors to focus quazi-natural discharges on distant
locations.
Put simply, the A.R.C. is a giant lighting rod that shoots at things. :B
The height is there for intimidation, to gain higher ground on the
battlefield, and to ensure more direct ionic disruption.
cheers!
Jk
