  Re: IR Problems

(...) Thanks for your reply. I had to return the 1.0 RCX and motor back to school today. Those things are like gold. The 1.0 faces the 2.0 and is not in direct line of sight of the tower. The 1.0 is just to the side of the tower. I think my problem (...) (18 years ago, 2-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  RCX to Spybot communication

This is a reposting of a message I posted yesterday in just the Spybotics newsgroup. I forgot to add .rcx and .rcx.nqc so I thought it was worth the double post. My apologies. (...)   no long range IR from laptop says Lego

Does the Lego USB IR tower, when set to long range, sometimes draw more than the 500mA allowed? Or do laptops generally not reliably supply 500mA? Or are we facing some deeper analog issue here, like not ramping up to 500mA from less mA fast enough (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Question about RIS version differences

The Windows Control Panel setting switches the USB tower between IR mode and VLL mode. Your then need software to send the appropriate VLL commands. WinVLL is one such program. On reflection I think I am in error about RoboLab 2.5. I think the VLL (...) (23 years ago, 6-Nov-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab, lugnet.robotics.vll)

  Instructions for LegOS USB support

A friend of mine recently bought the 2.0 RCX and sent me the following information regarding getting USB and LegOS to play nice. He did this on a Win2K system. I have the old 1.0 RCX so please don't ask me how to make this work. Here is his e-mail (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: Receiving messages on PC

  Receiving messages on PC

Hi, I'm sure this issue has come up before, but I can't find an answer to my exact question in the archives: Are there any utilities that can be used (preferably a Windows command line utility) to receive the messages sent by SendMessage()?   Re: Development status

(...) From what I can tell, support for h8300-hitachi-hms(/coff) was dropped from binutils after 2.16.1. I have no real idea how much work it would take to port brickOS (plus brickemu, preferably) over to elf, but I suspect that it'd be a lot. (...)   Re: Transmitting time USB vs serial

(...) Michael, I tried your programs on Windows and Linux. On Windows 98 the USB tower takes about one second to reply (990 - 1100ms). On Linux it took about 9 seconds as you indicate. This looks like a problem with the Linux USB driver. I will ask (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)
