| (...) Thanks for your reply. I had to return the 1.0 RCX and motor back to school today. Those things are like gold. The 1.0 faces the 2.0 and is not in direct line of sight of the tower. | Does the Lego USB IR tower, when set to long range, sometimes draw more than the 500mA allowed? Or do laptops generally not reliably supply 500mA? | (...) Michael, I tried your programs on Windows and Linux. On Windows 98 the USB tower takes about one second to reply (990 - 1100ms). On Linux it took about 9 seconds as you indicate. | (...) To be precise, there is one additional part, it's an additional long clear thick optical fiber. I think it's intended to connect some VLL bricks to the USB tower. | Matt, I discovered that the IR LED's and detector on my serial tower was located higher than I expected and pointed upward somewhat.
