To be continued tomorrow July 14, 2006.

Another 3 hours and "Spike" is complete.  "AlphaRex" and "RoboArm T56" had to be
torn apart and rebuilt when later modules showed there was something wrong with
the base.  Both are about halfway done.

The AlphaRex team was quite frustrated as the base was quite complex.  They
wanted the legs to stand up firmly at points in the construction where the
reinforcements had yet to be put in place.  I suppose it would help if the
instructions were in 3D and could be rotated and zoomed in/out.

When the RoboArm team finally got to wind up their drive gears, the AlphaRex
team quit, split up, and joined the RoboArm and Spike teams.

The RCX builders joined in the NXT-G programming and found the interface more
friendly but with more options to consider.  After a little tinkering, they were
quite happy with their results.  Although, they simple worked the motors.  No
one was able to work the sensors, yet.

Next week, I'll have a 12 hour class to work with.  I'm sure the experience of
these last six hours will help the pedagogy for Lego Team Challenge.  I'll be
setting up the FLL Ocean Odessy Challenge.  Hopefully, we can build the samples,
learn from them, then work on creating new bots.

Forward and onward, where I haven't gone before.

I'll use this space as my blog on my initial classroom experience with the NXT. Today, I had three pairs of boys (ages 10-11), building the arm, scorpion and biped. They had three hours from openning the boxes. Two teams (scorpion and biped) got to (...) (18 years ago, 13-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)
