  sony-ir.icb problem

Hi! I just unpacked my new Handy Board and tried some stuff I found in the IC manual. What can you say about the following error? C> load sony-ir.icb Loading sony-ir.icb.   Re: sonar modules

Hi Jeff, The Polaroid sensors work pretty darn well. I've been able to get 1" resolution from 8" to 130"++ (reportedly they work to 35 ft - my room's not big enough to try this out). I was able to get mine working in about 10 minutes. Basically, (...) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  excessive motor current?

I just managed to convert a Cat D10 toy into a robot. In doing so, I've converted the power source for its motors from Alkaline to NiCads. One thing I've noticed is that the NiCads make the robot seem A LOT more powerful. I measured the current (...) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sonar modules

How well do the Polaroid sensors everyone's using work? Do they require much external circuitry or any modifications to the handy board? I'm interested in them since I'm finally managing to get a nice working robot going... (Yeah everyone, I (...) (28 years ago, 29-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Code for simple robot

It is possible that there are those out there that may be as bad at 'C' as I am, so for what is worth, here is my code that is working. My bot, Rug-Runner, with HandyBoard, has been wandering around my house for about half an hour now without (...) (28 years ago, 28-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IC Timing

(...) I don't know if this is really the best way to do it, but I hacked this up real quick for a previous project. You put the stuff you want to time inside the loop. It will print out the numer of times the loop executes per second. The display is (...) (28 years ago, 27-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IC Timing

How do you time a running process? I would like to prune the running time of a part of my IC program running in the HandyBoard, to improve the response of my sensor testing. I assume you could set a clock and then sample it later but I am a little (...) (28 years ago, 27-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  'Cher' responses

Ok, I got it. Apparently my service provider wasn't keeping any of my mail, so I didn't get any of your first responses to my question. Anyway, thanks to all of you for replying a second time. Patrick (28 years ago, 26-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Forth on HandyBoard?

Is it possible to program the HandyBoard in 'Forth'? If so how does one go about it? I assume the compiled Forth program must be further converted into a PCode. Is there a version of Forth that does that at compilation? Anyone know where to look? (...) (28 years ago, 25-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  thanks! (problem fixed)

Thanks to all the extremely useful information everyone was able to provide me, I have been able to fix my COM port problem.   REC80 Transmit

Folks, After writing code to decode REC80 signals I got inspired to write code to transmit them as well. But I sat on the idea for quite a while and didn't get around to it until now.   adding a third serial port

  Re: pc com port woes

(...) Yes, you need to use a serial card inside your computer that offers add'l com ports. It isn't clear from your message if that is what you have. If so, the trick you are missing is that multiple com ports cannot share the same IRQ. Most or all (...) (28 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pc com port woes

There is away around this. Configure your com ports to use a different IRQ. Typically the second parallel port IRQ (5) is available. If neither your modem nor your com ports will do this then you will need to buy a new com port board that has (...) (28 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Using low voltage motors

In your message you said: (...) What do you mean, "from the 20V range"? the HB supplies about 8 to 9v to its motor outs. a 30 ohm resistor would be about right for the 200mA current level.   pc com port woes

Today, for the first time, I decided to actually try out the new version of IC on my new Pentium, running Win 95. To make a long story short, it doesn't work. Why?   Using low voltage motors

I'm using two low voltage motors that come attached to a really cool gear box. Or rather I want to use these motors. Each seems to work best at about 2.0 V. When running they draw about 200 mA.
