    block scoreing.... —Chris Magno
damn .... damn.... damn..... my robot was DONE!!! all that was left was the tweaking. and maybe if I wanted to colour co-ordination.... then bruce casually mentions this: ---snip from the rules---- Each black block is worth one point, while each (...)         Re: block scoreing.... —David Schilling
(...) Wow. You found a mechanical way to separate the white blocks from the pit? That's pretty impressive! I would like to see that. So before you go destroying your robot to build one that picks out black blocks instead, could you take a few (...) (21 years ago, 7-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

        Re: block scoreing.... —Chris Magno
(...) no... I mis spoke. my EOAT is a simple mechanical device; it still uses a light sensor to sort. I was trying to explain to the guys that this concept is nothing fancy. but it work(ed) well (...) this is my last hope idea. I'll try to make it (...)         Re: block scoreing.... —Iain Hendry
(...) I think he was being sarchastic. What I think we're all having a hard time understanding, is why this is such a problem? Just change your light sensor values. Instead of looking for white, look for black. Or vise-versa, whatever you need. (...) (21 years ago, 8-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) dope - y dope - e doe... gee, now why did I not think of that. wow, you guys are SO SMART!!! just like steve is so smart (and funny) :/ Iain, this is "the deal" my LX sensor is placed at a point that when no bricks are in the EOAT, my reading (...)         Re: block scoreing.... —Ka-On Lee
(...) Let's just say the Spybot internal light sensor have the same annoying behaviour. But that nothing compare to the jamming shape of the 2x4 brick. BTW do a score or -4 still beat a score of -5? Can a bot that only bring white blocks to the (...) (21 years ago, 8-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) if you tell me how you solved for this, then Ill show you an easy way to solve for the odd shape for the brick. (...) I really don't think we will have that many robots. as it stands you me wayne bruce. no one else has committed. and with so (...) (21 years ago, 8-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Do you remember that first robot I ever brought out, to our marble competition in January, 2000? I had the (...) (21 years ago, 8-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Iain: I like you. your a nice guy.... but in light of my previous post please accept this for what it is: (...) are you a freak or what?          Re: block scoreing.... —Iain Hendry
(...) You know me a lot better than to need to ask that question! (...) Okay, well, then you can tell the difference between ambient and black, right? So, set your sorter to always accept, and then if it sees black, reject. If it's a spining tyre (...) (21 years ago, 8-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

         Re: block scoreing.... —Chris Magno
(...) no. Black is the good brick, and BLACK is the same colour I can not see. (...) because it was bruce's fault. he made me re-read the rules page and that's when I noticed I had been sorting the wrong brick all this time. -- Chris (21 years ago, 8-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

         RE: block scoreing.... —Ralph Hempel
(...) Ok, Chris. I'll type this slow becasue I know you can't read very fast... Can you tell me what would happen if you rejected the blocks you CAN see, that you don't want? And then can you tell me what happens if you accept nothing, and the black (...) (21 years ago, 9-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

        Re: block scoreing.... —David Schilling

        Re: block scoreing.... —Bruce Sheridan
First, I don't think I'm going to have a robot for Saturday. I've built and destroyed a number of bots in the last month. At this moment I have absolutely nothing. I haven’t given up yet, but, I’d have to say things are looking bleak. Why don't we (...) (21 years ago, 9-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
