To tell you the truth, I'm just glad you care enough to read the 20-some
messages in this thread. :)
If it were me, I'd have stopped reading a long time ago! :)
Actually, John B. kind of touched on the other stuff I was thinking. It's not
all about one person and their robot. Especially at Brickfest. It's about the
large number of spectators per robot. All the people thinking "wow, I could do
that"
Last year, I was a bit disapointed when I was watching one of the videos from
Brickfest 2002, and someone says, "Where are the robots from Toronto?" To which
someone responds, "They're too good for these events." Take that as you will.
Heck, even if you do something as stupid as sumo, maybe one other person will
get interested and build something in the future. Isn't that what rtlToronto's
about? Showing other people what can be done! (No, I'm sure it's not. And
I'll be corrected in the next message...) :)
Anyway, I've been SHOCKED more than one time when I was talking with other
AFOLs, and I find out that they have a Mindstorms set STILL IN THE BOX. What's
the point? Get it out and play with it!
I'm done now. I'll get down off my soapbox, and crawl back into my hole.
When you guys come up with a challenge you think is hard, (unlike the "Last Bot
Standing", or this 3D line following you call "Pipe Racers") I'll make it a
point to come up there and show you how to do it. :) Till then, I'll try to be
quiet.
Steve
