I was thinking something like this:

The open V could be on top of the carrier, and the wedge could be
incorporated on everyone's press down mechanism, leading the motion
and spring loaded. This would perform the final alignment of the
carrier before placing the part.
On another note - Can anyone provide plans on building a mock train
truck for those who don't play with trains? I could just roll it in
and out by hand for module testing but need to match the hight and any
other dimensions...
