Firstly reduce the size of your temporary files cache, the more files there
are the slower it appears to get. Then set IE to clear the cache on
shutdown. Also disable third-party extensions (I've seen a couple that
really slow IE down, and setting this option off speeds IE up and hasn't
appeared to have broken those third-party add-ins).
Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings button
reduce amount of disk space
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab
under Browsing untick "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires
restart)"
under Security at the bottom tick "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder
when browser is closed"
I've found these settings really helped speed up my IE :)
