I *owned* a PSX, and I paid a lot more for mine than most people paid
for theirs, even back when they hadn't come near $199.
All that said, I put my latest machine together for well under $800,
and it beats the living tar out of anything the PSX can do.

Well, you can get perfectly good computers for $400 or less, not, so
the PSX is more like 1/3 the price, and much less functionality.

I'll definitely buy one, don't get me wrong. I'm a gamer through and
through, but I get bored with console stuff eventually. You can only
play so many of the same games over and over again.
