I read via the web too, and to my knowledge, no, there isn't. I just skip
anything that is in a thread I don't want to read. I tend to use the "compact"
method of viewing, so all I see are the posts' subject lines.

Well. I'd argue that if you're not getting involved because you know it's
futile, then you're not interested in getting into the discussion, but I think
we'd go back and forth arguing semantics at that point, which would be equally
futile. ;D
