  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Indeed. But is was not until more recently untail it came into common usage. Most of the the world still refers to the UK as Britain, or more annoyingly England. (...) I do not doubt what you are saying. However, I have to say that the same (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) Actually I always think, a relationship is the business of only two people who directly involved, and *nobody* has a right to say anything about it. It's a pure personal thing. Unfortunately, an awful load of bystanders around you and your (...) (23 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) I tend to agree. It is very hard to maintain an identity in more than one race or culture. My observation is that children with parents of different races often end up identifying with one race over the other(s), but not without a feeling that (...)   Re: Ok, why such anti-American sentiment? (Was Re: the metric system)

(...) On the personal level it's not so important. In Australia (metric for thirty years or so) people's height and (less often) weight is still usually described in imperial units. On the organisational level using the wrong units can waste over (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

MichLUG Items in Debate not Appropriate

To All, FUT to lugnet.org.us.michlug I am posting this to debate once, I will not follow through to it here (And if you don't like it, too bad), so if you want to respond to specific MichLUG items, please place it there in orgs.michlug. Otherwise, (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.org.us.michlug)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Well, this is a very hard question to answer in the hypothetical without more specifics, so I leave it to you to pose a more detailed hypothetical should you choose to do so. Given the real world instance of the nations of Israel and (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) Agreed. Initial attraction is great but unless you have a basis of trust, understanding etc. to build on, there are not many places you can go from there. (...) Interesting point. (...) Well, being a romantic, I believe in one true love. (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) Keep in mind that mature love is the culmination of shared interests and experiences, in short love is made not found. Compatibility and common interests are what attract people to each other, but ultimately the decision to commit to someone (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

This is a very complex question, which really comes down to a persons priorities. For example if a Christian and a Jew want to get married several questions arise. Will the ceremony be performed by a priest or a rabbi? Will dietary laws be obeyed by (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) No easy answer, I'm afraid. Any relationship is a complex beast, from a potential lifemate right down to the stranger you get along with at a party. The strongest influence on a relationship is going to be the people involved, but right up (...) (23 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) <nod> That's what common sense would say, yep. Good to know common sense is right again. ;-) (...) OK, but what if someone is standing between a crossroads, trying to decide between two people they know to make the relation deeper. One of them (...)   Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) <<cut comment and paste>> (...) <nod> The question is, who are the people involved? You say, *not* just the two people in the relationship, right? Who is also included? Parents of the two? Friends? Family? etc. Who in your opinion should be (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) As another disinterested third party I would have to concur with Larry. I'd probably join the show at your church, (even though I'm not Catholic) but I'd be doing so as an individual. To participate _as_a_club_ would not be appropriate - (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) Whatever floats your boat. :) Put another way, I'm of the strong opinion that it's generally nobodies business how a relationship works except the people involved(1). Compatability is a funny thing, and various factors like religion, culture (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

I don't agree that the US is a melting pot. A melting pot suggests no divisions and we know that is not the case. The US is more like a salad. You can still pick out the individual pieces in the bowl. The next step would be a Lego set in that all (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

Why do you ask? Is someone giving you a hard time because of a "non-traditional" relationship? By the way all my relationships have been inter-xxxx ( as Larry calls them). I hadn't realized this till I read your post so my view is that it doesn't (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
