  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) I am fairly open-minded... I have had relationships outside my religion, race, and country...(ahh the wonders of those college years, but I digress) (...) The internet is only a very small part of the cultural change of the past 40 years... (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

(...) I probably will have more to say later. For now: - Statisticial analysis of census data seems to indicate that inter-xxxx is on the upswing at least in the US, across all types of xxxx but that the rate of increase varies by type of xxxx (1).   Re: Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

I'm fine with any and all of them. Personally, I would tend to thing that inter-religious are the toughest to handle. Can't say that from personal experience, though. (...) -- | Tom Stangl, iPlanet Web Server Technical Support Netscape (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Inter-racial, Inter-religious, Inter-national relationships

...I'd be intereted to hear what people's opinions about inter-racial (inter-ethnic?), inter-religious and inter-national (i.e. people from different countries) relationships. With today's internet as well as world-wide transportation, I'm assuming (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) Hmm, OK. I'm not certain that the distinction is relevent most of the time unless you're actually in a debate about perceptions of reality, but I'll grant it to you anyway. :) (although taking this any farther is *really* splitting hairs) (...)   Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Great! So now that your country has the benefits of conquest -- wealth and power -- it is possible for it to show the "kinder and gentler" face of colonialism -- the hypocrisy of the congenial tyrant. I'd just like you to know that other (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

Warning, semantic slicing and dicing ahead. :-) (...) I would agree except to say that it should read "is not valid for me" or "I cannot accept it as valid within my framework". I acknowledge that others do find it valid. I judge *them* only on (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) Sure. :) (...) Hmm. Bias is perhaps the wrong term for it - I've never seen you reacting to a christian in a neutral environment, so I can't accurately call it bias, I suppose. More after the definition... (...) Dictionary.com's definition (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) Can we dig into that a bit? What anti-christian bias? :-) Seriously. I'm not biased. At least I don't *think* I am. From this cite: (URL) selected the def I think applies: 2. Usage Problem. a.   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) Good example Dave! (1) I'll go a lot farther than that. I wouldn't even think to *ask* such a thing because I understand that it's not appropriate for a club (as a club) to be seen as espousing a particular view. This distinction is totally (...)   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

In lugnet.off-topic.debate, Tony Hedglen writes: <snip> I think you're misreading Larry here - although to be fair, Larry does seem to have an anti-christian bias. BUT! That's not what he's saying. He is saying that the club should not *AS A CLUB* (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

Tony, please allow me to express my perspective, as a disinterested third party: In the above snippet you point out that the church (by definition, I think we'll agree, a religious institution) would like the club (a group of individuals of (...)   Ok, why such anti-American sentiment? (Was Re: the metric system)

(...) First, regarding the metric system, use whatever pleases you. Personally, I don't care. I like the old system, simply because i grew up with it, and i therefore find it more (personally) natural to think in terms of feet and inches than meters (...)   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

I apologize to you and you still accuse me of things. The only confusion I have is you. Do you think the club is a business or a club? I’m not in the club to make money; I’m not in the club to support a certain group. I’m in the club to have fun. (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Then what are you willing to acknowledge, beyond what we've seen here? There's no reason in this long .debate to think that Larry's wrong on that score. (...)
