Dave,

I can see thsi piece breaking.  You'd have to see it to fully understand, but
I'll try to explain.  The MB equivilant to to the 1x2 technic hole piece is a
little different.  In TLG's piece, you can fit the _small_ end into the hole
and have it stick (the "top" of the brick goes into the side of the technic
brick).  But in MegaBlocks, the _large_ end (or the "bottom") of the piece goes
in the whole.  Thus, a technic pin would slip, if you are imagining it
correctly, right through the hole on thsi MB piece.  Because of this, the piece
is a lot weaker (a combination of less surface area to reinforce, less
reinforcement, and cheaper plastic).

Now, the piece that makes the "gun" on the battleship is an antennae type piece
that slopes from the normal outside diameter of a cylyender piece to the
antennae.  It takes about a brick and half of height to do this.  Thus if you
try and force the piece through from the back (I've done this and not broken
it), I can see the force breaking it.

I bought 6! battle ships.  The first one I built, which was a pretty cool
design.  The rest I opened up and dumped into the parts bins.  This set has
some AWESOME parts.  More great peices than you can shake a stick at, a new
type of hinge (and more sturdy at that), and a truckload of clear 1x1
cylinders.

For only $20 , a great set.  My only problem with MegaBlocks is the 1/2 wide
plates.  They use this width for large plates and it makes them very hard to
work with.

Dave,

Ya, that's what I tried to do.  I know (now) that it doesn't fit, but it
_almost_ did.  I didn't notice the split until after I'd done it, then I
thought 'I guess I had better not do this'.  My point is, I suppose, that
with LEGO you wouldn't be able to get as far as wrecking a brick because you
would have to force it so hard that it would hurt.  With MegaBloks plastic,
you can fairly easily force a piece and it'll go with the result of breaking
the piece.  Personally I think MegaBloks is on the right track with some of
their stuff.  If only their plastic was more LEGO/Tyco-like...
