It is only once in a blue moon that WalMart provides me with a reason to
shop for toys there. But I've never had _any_ problem returning anything
with or without a receipt at WM. Same is true for Target. TRU is harder to
work with, wildly variable from clerk to clerk and store to store, and
typically a poor LEGO supplier (at least in my neck of the woods).
I think, like you, my fear is the impact that this kind of "policy" might
have on kids who are less assertive of their rights. I'm absolutely sure
that I will always be able to return anything that I might try to because I
know how the game works. But kids often get the shaft by overbearing
unscrupulous shop personnel. I have, on a couple of occasions intervened on
a young stranger's behalf when I thought they were being mistreated. It's a
shame that's needed as the exception and it's horrible that it might be
needed as the rule.

| (...) Well, of course. But the blanket policy at Wal-mart may effect other kinds of returns as well. And TLC quality control is way down in my estimation -- how happy would you be to not have an entire bag of stuff that was supposed to be in an MISB (...)
