Hi,

How about a GBI (GB & Ire) group (Lions!?) i.e. British Isles group?
There are too few here to be a nuisance and are otherwise stranded ...

The flavour of the general feeling about what does/doesn't need to be done
may be seen here: http://news.lugnet.com/org/?n=384, and its 3 replies.

My thoughts FWIW:

1. I believe we should 'tidy up after ourselves', so there is some • immediate
work to be done in www.uklug.org.uk, even if that's to mark the whole site
as under construction, and a redirect to LUGNET local uk.

2. It would probably be useful to have a known central point of reference
for fest information. It could still link to a personal web site (eg JJ
Railton's)

3. I think James's offer is a good one, but he needs to be given our • support
in terms of the direction the effort needs to be made, if any.

4. I don't think moving it to a yahoo list is the way to go.

Treat this as another Request For Comments if you will.

Phil.

let me know if you wanna go forward on it

It's sad to hear of someone as keen as Michael not being able to carry • on
contributing to the LUGNET community, but hopefully he will still be • active,
and his situation will improve in due course.

One thing he was interested to tackle was updating the UK LUG site
(http://www.uklug.org.uk/) which is hopelessly out of date.

Michael offered (http://news.lugnet.com/loc/uk/?n=5956), and was handed • over
by Richard Franks (http://news.lugnet.com/loc/uk/?n=6041), but didn't • appear
to have much subsequent success progressing his plans.

I am guessing that 'to release the pressure' that is one of the • casualties.

So, any takers?

Phil.

PS: Don't look at me, I have neither the time nor the appropriate
expertise.
