The Brisbane Lions were the Brisbane Bears until the remnants of the Fitzroy
Lions(?) headed north, adding blue to the outfit, while red never made it.
Maybe they should have kept the alliteration going, Brisbane Broncos, • Brisbane
Bullets, Brisbane Brine Shrimp perhaps ?

A quick quiz through my "Wildlife Of Greater Brisbane" reveals a plethora of
possibilities for alliterative authentication for pigskin pursuers, e.g.

Brisbane Bandy Bandies (black and white striped snake)
Brisbane Barred Blennies (a tiny fish also with stripes)
Brisbane Bombardier Beetles (looks like a cockroach)
Brisbane Bony Breams (makes good bait)

and saving the best for last:

Brisbane Bloodworms (looks like a worm)
Brisbane Beachworms (looks like a worm)
