On Fri, 20 Aug 1999 04:58:00 GMT, Larry Pieniazek uttered the following
profundities...
I've received a number of offline notes about this, expressing various
opinions and pledging various amounts. So depending on the dollar
amount, it's doable, and at 5K I'd be in for less than half of the total
(but not much less, so far).

More later. One driver of logistics is who has space to do sorts and
rebursts. There doesn't appear to be any in NZ, either unless someone
who has not yet spoken up speaks up. I personally don't, but I have some
leads on space here in the US.

Unless there IS space in NZ shipping it to the US first makes a lot of
sense... work through the economics of renting space and sending a
bazillion packages to the US (most of the participants are USians) vs
one big shipment to someone with free space and mostly domestic mail.

...

unless we just randomize it and sell it by the pound. But why
deliberately increase entropy? It's already mostly sorted.

All this is moot until Sanjay finds out how and what. Thanks for
bringing this to our attention  no matter what happens.

Unless John is personally volunteering space, he's at the tail end of
the line AFAIAC. :-) I can't believe he suckered me into sending him 3
of my precious clear macaroni. :-) Black hole is an apt description of
the operations at his house, I speak as an eye witness. :-)

Of course, air mail, sea mail, etc. would be prohibitively
expensive for a lot this size.

A lot this size would necessitate air shipment, ie freight.
I personally, working for an airline, get 75% discount on
air freight, though it is standby. I will try to find out
about shipping from a 2nd to 3rd country, without the UK
getting involved.
