Well, this happens to me a lot, unfortunately, but
I've found a sure fire way to get over builders block.
One: Don't watch your sci-fi DVDs. To tell you the truth, when
I watch science fiction series, I notice that a lot of
people like to rip off the ship design from the series and
incorporate it into their creations. This can be a bad thing
because ripping designs messes up my creations, and offsets
creativity.
Two: Try working with a small amount of bricks, and
try a themed approach to building. For example, I
typically like to fuse hybrids of Blacktron and classic
space to make my own themed creations. (Cs has a lot
of trans yellow elements, so That works well)
Three: Avoid looking at the brickshelf gallery.
This actually takes away from creativity again, because
when inspiration hits, you try as much as possible
to build something, but you want to avoid ripping
the integral design, while trying to be original.
This again, causes lack of originality.
Well, these approaches to alternative building work well
for me, since I try to be original in design, but I don't
think they'll work for the masses, since a lot of builders
tend to borrow designs from other sources.
