What the heck is going on ?! —Mike Petrucelli
When should we belive the Lego Company? When they tell us that they are refocusing on their core product, or when the release Galidor. If the company spent half as much on brick based product that they do on this junk, we might actually get (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: What the heck is going on ?! —Bryan Kinkel
When I stroll into Toys R Us for baby supplies, I hardly glance at the Lego displays. I know that the sets, outside of the SW & HP sets, are junk and overpriced. They will never go on sale either. So I choose to spend my cash at Lego Direct. Bryan (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) ...and a new 9 volt monorail would be a brick based/core product? (...) Well, Bionicle and Harry Potter products seem to have been pretty successful.          Re: What the heck is going on ?! - Heteronyms! —Pedro Silva
(...) Good point. In fact, now that I think of it, the core product of LEGO is the building block *alone*, in its differnet sizes and shapes. I wonder if LEGO enthousiasts from the '60s thought the same when LEGO introduced the minifig in the '70s. (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: What the heck is going on ?! - Heteronyms! —John P. Henderson
(...) As a privately owned company, the full details of TLC's fiscal results are not likely to be published, if I understand things correctly. -H. (22 years ago, 13-Feb-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What the heck is going on ?! - Heteronyms! —Richie Dulin
(...) Indeed. In fact, one of the reasons I feel compelled to stand up for LEGO in this sort of discussion is the opinions I held, as a child. First the minifig came along and played havoc with scale, and then, space came along -I thought it was an (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) perfect (...) successful. (...) Also remember that the Lego brand is a household word in that people go to stores looking to buy Lego products that are made by a company of the same name. Most other toy manufactures do not have this type of (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What the heck is going on ?! —Mike Petrucelli
(...) If the company wants to create something new, a 9V monorail would be a useful brick based (the old monorail track connected via 1x4 plates) item good in any town, space, or aquazone layout. What good is Galidor to Lego fans? Galidor appeals to (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) <snip> (...) How do we know that? The line isn't even in stores. (...) This is inaccurate. I'm adult. A fan of Lego and ... oops! not feeling blasphemed against. (...)           Re: What the heck is going on ?! —Richie Dulin
(...) Historically, I think they would have been known for selling sets which consisted mostly of bricks, with a few slopes, wheels, windows and doors thrown in (eg Universal Building Sets).           Re: What the heck is going on ?! —Richie Dulin
(...) Is creator set 4119 no longer available? (...) Actually, I find the doors more anoying than the figs. At least the figs don't take up much space. (...) Cheers Richie Dulin (22 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: What the heck is going on ?! —Richie Dulin
(...) Why would they associate Galidor with LEGO, but not Bionicle with LEGO? [snip] (...) Indeed it is. Do you stock Creator sets? They're not too far removed from "just bricks". (...) I wouldn't be holding my breath for the success of Galidor, but (...) (22 years ago, 13-Feb-02, to lugnet.general)

Since you are in a postition to make decisions about what products to stock and you _Know_ that people with cash to spend want "just bricks" it must be extremely frustrating that you cannot get what people want to buy.         Re: What the heck is going on ?! —Erik Olson
I'm trying to see if I can go a whole year without buying any Lego. The Pizza To Go set really tempted me. However that is the only thing going, and I tell myself that I've already got one.         A whole year? (Was Re: What the heck is going on ?!) —Maggie Cambron
