If the company wants to create something new, a 9V monorail would be a useful
brick based (the old monorail track connected via 1x4 plates) item good in • any
town, space, or aquazone layout.  What good is Galidor to Lego fans?  Galidor
appeals to kids that do not like construction toys.  The Lego brand name on a
non-construction toy is a contradiction of terms to a casual consumer and
outright blasphemy to AFOLs.  Anyway the point was if the Company is going to
risk money on something new they should at least make it work with what they
already have.

Harry Potter is brick based.  The larger Bionicle sets are very good, but • seem
to have been overlooked because of the Technic Jr. smaller Bionicle sets.
Most consumers do not even realize Bionicle is made by Lego.

Why would they associate Galidor with LEGO, but not Bionicle with LEGO?

"They" probably will not.  Note that I am talking about parents (read the most
likely to spend money) not kids.

[snip]
Well I am the Assistant Manager in a toy store, and the single most requested
Lego item is "just bricks."  Potter and Bionicle are tied for the second most
requested Lego items.  It is kind of stupid that we can not provide consumers
with the most requested Lego item.

Indeed it is. Do you stock Creator sets? They're not too far removed from
"just bricks".

That is what I direct customers too.  Only about one forth of the people
accept this as an alternative.  The rest say the will just keep looking
elsewhere and do not belive me that the company does not sell them except
through Shop @ Home.

Galidor might be popular for a while and be good for the Lego company for a • few
years.  In the long run however, it will do nothing to help and probably will
hurt the Lego brand name.
I wouldn't be holding my breath for the success of Galidor, but then, I
never thought Bionicle would be a success either.

Cheers
