That's fine so long as you don't need them to be any longer than 7 studs, in which
case the beam made from the half beams will be substantially weaker than its
single piece equivalent. I superglued a few half beams together to make the
equivalent of a long studless beam (I didn't have any proper ones at the time) for
the tipping mechanism in my hook lift truck:

I think these pieces are great for many applications, they look really neat, and
you don't always need studs on top.

The trouble is that they don't look as good, and you could get them in any colour
you liked as long as it was grey. The new angle connectors in conjunction with the
corrugated tubing are fantastic at making curved structures and really look the
job. I think the cab on my excavator would be pretty lame without them:

And finally, I think the technic body panels look "no bad" on my crane:

If I had to nominate a piece I've yet to find a good use for it would be the
yellow liftarm with the black rubber bit on the end found in Cyberslam sets.
Perhaps it is an age issue or something :-)

| (...) I found that piece can have some use for mindstorm creations. If you need to pick up something by an arm that is hard to dig up, e.g. a cube on a flat surface, those pieces can be used as fingers. (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.general)

Yep, they are pretty useless. I have far more than I (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.general)
