Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

I'm glad I finally got my 1.5 version RIS this year. When the MS "enhanced" 2.0 kit arrives, my robots will act like brain-dead zombies, bashing into skirting boards and inexplicably locking up every five minutes. Now they'll have to invent a (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

(...) Don't worry too much about this. It seems like typical marketing blather and probably won't affect that actual bricks too much. It's probably going to affect games and software, as well as shared web content. Now, if I was Michael Lachmann, (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

Oh no! This is very very bad. Any good will one may direct toward Lego and its products certainly won't be redirected toward Microsoft, at least as far as I am concerned. If and when Lego becomes a small satellite of Microsoft's, it'll all be over (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

(...) This is a disaster... If M$ does with LEGO that they do to everyone else we can soon expect LEGO to try to pull the plug on all Free Thinking. Especially anything to do with Linux. V2 may not allow 3rd party programs to work with it now. You (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics)

Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

(...) Whoah there Dean, calm down. What this press release boils down to is: 1) Microsoft powering the S@H stuff on the Web. * Hey, it can't get any worse than it is now - whenever I try to go there it's so slow as to be completely unusable. 2) LEGO (...)   Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

(...) Hey Dean, this is not necessarily going to be a disaster. As much as I dislike Microsoft as a company, I have to admit that during the past year or so they have made some impressive improvements to some Mac software. Some critics have gone so (...) I observe that the web site works a lot better with Internet Explorer than Netscape on my PC, and it doesn't work at all on my Unix (...)   Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

In trying to read substance from the press release on the Lego site, all I found was this: Microsoft will advertise and sell Legos. TLG will write software that is compliant with Microsoft protocols. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but then again, (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Doom

(...) Well again, it's only my opinion! It's the only conclusion I can reach. Not suddenly, but gradually over say a 20-year period. I'd been wondering, given all of the things you listed, and now I wonder no more. --Todd (24 years ago, 14-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
