According to an article in ID magazine, March/April 2000, Lego posted its
first loss since the companies founding in the 1930s. The article contends
that this is due in part to the widely expanded theme product line.
Honestly, is this really a big deal? I am most interested in getting cool
parts to make cool custom creations...

| If I may jump in here with a thought of my own... All of the new subthemes have too short a shelf life and try to throw too much in a single set ( who among us can afford ALL of the larger sets?) which seems to destroy the idea of LEGO building. | Jake, I agree with you completely. As long as the parts are great (and in great colors), I can build my own creations at will. But it does seem that AFOLs are in two camps. One camp that wants to build basically whatever sets come out (they are the (...) (24 years ago, 4-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)
