Actually, I had numerous questions about the DCC setup, but I saw in a post
that some information was going to be posted about it, so I held my
questions until it was posted, but here goes:
How much labor (time) is required to convert a Lego Train motor to DCC?
How much do the parts cost and how much is the controller?
How many different trains can be run before addressing and/or power drain
problems occur?
How are multiple motors on one loco (or 2 DCC enabled locos on one train)
handled? Do they share the same address (not sure if that is the proper
term) or is it even possible?
Can you change that address easily (to allow 2 or more motors to accept the
same commands)?
Is there the option to send a DCC command to turn on the power plate section
of the motor to operate other things, like moving people or rotate a
searchlight?
I actually haven't had much time to look at the pictures of the Wamalug
set-up. I have only gone through about half of them.
I had seen Matt Bates info on DCC, but with my plate currently about as full
as an offensive lineman's plate at Home Town Buffet, I cannot really invest
the time to set it up on my embryonic layout.
As for the critique, I see that there are about 200 pictures and mpgs to
look at. Plus, much of that has to be assimilated for a few days. Your
first post came on Monday. I have spent my last 2 nights at home sorting
bricks and watching B5 on tape with my wife, so I haven't really gotten to
look at them as intently as I have wanted.
One thing I would like to see, but haven't mentioned it to Kevin Loch yet,
is for .mpg files to show a thumbnail of a scene out of the movie, either
the first one or one from the middle, which should give an idea of what you
are downloading.
