So there you were, with an armful of Pick-a-Brick cups and a copy of Creator set 4956 in your sweaty little hands and you then asked for a set with studded technic beams?

And when someone pointed out to you a set that met your request, you almost bought it?

Thanks for sharing.

Richie,

I don’t know why you would assign an arbitrary and incorrect timeline to events which you did not personally witness.
  1. Enter LEGO Retail, ask sales associate which current Technic sets include “classic studded Technic beams.”
  2. Clerk seems confused, shows me to the Technic display with nary a classic studded beam in sight.
  3. Try to make the best of my trip, fill a few PaB cups with brick, see an interesting Creator set, ready to cash out.
  4. Different sales associate points out last remaining copy of Technic set, which contains a healthy number of 14-stud and 16-stud beams, but I was looking for 6’s and 8’s for the project I was working on.
  5. Interesting set, but not what I was looking for at the time. Make purchasing decision to stick with what I had already found.

Thanks for the timeline. I’d assumed that the events you’d included in your post occured in the order that you’d given them and didn’t allow for full sequence of events.

Yes, I notice that you snipped my original statement, which apparently I need to parse for your benefit:

“On a recent trip to my local LEGO Retail store, I asked the employees if there were any sets with studded Technic beams, and they didn’t even know what I was talking about. Eventually someone showed me 7905 which, despite being hidden far away from all the other Technic offerings, was almost completely sold out. (Only one copy left in the whole store.) The model looks great, and I almost bought it, except that I already had an armful of Pick-a-Brick cups and a copy of Creator set 4956 in my sweaty little hands by that point.

Which word don’t you understand?

But honestly, Richie, for someone who is a LEGO Ambassador, the tone of your comments surprises me.

The tone?

I repeated two comments you’d made, questioning them (and, as I mentioned above, thanks for clarifying the events), and thanked you for sharing.

I see you using italics to add emphasis to certain words, and I don’t see any smileys to indicate anything except a rude tone. Was there some other purpose to your response besides being argumentative and snide? I don’t see what you were trying to add to this discussion that was in the least bit constructive.

“All LEGO Ambassadors members are expected to exemplify the program fundamentals of building proficiency, enthusiasm, and professionalism towards the public, other fans and the LEGO Group.”

I’m not seeing a point in this being quoted here.

Must I explain everything to you? As “a fan” of LEGO, I am certainly not feeling your “enthusiasm” or “professionalism” here today. It seemed to me that you might have forgotten how to conduct yourself, given your special role within this community.

Perhaps you might consider increasing your community efforts and trying again?

Okay, here goes:

I’m sorry to hear of your recent experience. You have my sympathy.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Why?

Seriously, why?

My post summarised your post. It was no more off-topic than yours.

Just because someone doesn’t agree with you - or just because you have the perception that someone disagrees with you - doesn’t mean it’s off topic. You seem very quick to FUT o-t.debate. Please consider what is and is not off-topic.

I moved this to o-t.d for your benefit. The purpose of lugnet,dear-lego is to provide a direct conduit from this community to TLG. I assumed that you might be embarassed to realize that you made such a rude response in a forum that is practically guaranteed to be read by the very people who accepted you into their ambassador program.

Furthermore, this newsgroup is not intended for harsh back-and-forth debate about these issues. I posted my reaction to a set that I purchased as feedback for TLG, which is precisely what this list is for. You are using this group to carry on a somewhat heated discussion with me.

In my opinion we are off-topic, but this time I will leave it in your capable hands to decide the most appropriate newsgroup to use for further discussion.

Chris, not everyone will agree with you when you post. Particularly when you complain. You need to internalise that, and move on.

I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. In fact, these days rude sniping seems to be the norm around here. I just don’t expect it from someone who was hand-picked to act as a liason between the company and its customers, especially in response to a customer’s valid observation about a product I just paid good money for.

Have a nice day.
