This is the set I selected during the voting so you can imagine that I am
well pleased at this turn of events. I'll probably buy several of these
sets just as I did of the GI -- actually, I may buy even more of this set
because it includes several elements of particular interest to me. I might
have preferred a price more like the GI, but I guess $5 USD one way or the
other doesn't matter much ultimately.
Hopefully, you can exert some influence over these matters but maybe you
could look into some stricter quality control guidelines over the production
of this set. The GI suffered of sloppy/blurred printing on the castle
walls, the sign, and the minis. We builders DO care about these details.
It was still hugely cool to get the GI back again, but it could have been
AMAZING! -- but was not.
I look forward to seeing what people can come up with given greater access
to some of these semi-rare color/element combinations: the Falcon minis and
their accessories, the black steep corner slopes and cap, the yellow tudor
walls, the light grey sword, the yellow half arches...
Man, I wish I could see the numbers on this stuff (i.e. older sets I do
like) versus other stuff (i.e. newer sets/whole product line I do not like).
I have to think that TLC is sitting on a goldmine of old sets that nobody
even has to design or put much thought into. It's all there ready to be remade.
And while I think Space is well-served by the SW line, I can't help but
think that TLC/LD should throw them a bone with something from the Classic
Space line. If not that, at least give them the Battrax -- I am looking at
one right now and I can't think of an element in that set that isn't readily
available (here I refer to the ability to mold the elements in question, not
that they exist readily in the needed colors). Given those circumstances,
putting together the Battrax as a Legend set is more a matter of production
and packaging than anything else isn't it?
Ultimately, I hope the success of the Legend and Classics lines equates into
the ability to make older sets even if molds need to be remade to accomplish
the given task.
Gee, look how nice I can be without even trying sometimes...
