It was just one dance on the table! Just one! Oh man...
The process we are undergoing right now is just the first step. As we
develop and move forward on one step, it changes the others. Our goal way
back when was to have the brick by brick ordering. But as we started
developing, we realized we needed to understand more about how people would
actually use this type of tool. We realized that we first needed to "bring
CAD to the masses", so to speak. If a large enough user base couldn't build
models virtually, then setting up MASSIVE infrastructure and fulfillment
processes didn't make sense. Plus, we wanted to ensure a user base of core
building was part of the "LEGO culture" among fans of all ages.
So like a good business, we remained flexible enough to adjust for important
learnings. Sometimes it doesn't seem like we are on track because of a delay
or refocusing.
Hopefully that answers that question, and I can live down that memory. At
least until the next party... mmm... dancing on table...
