    PreL3P 1.0 —Jim DeVona
PreL3P is a console tool that converts LDraw color codes unrecognized by L3P to hexadecimal "extended color" specifications. It reads "!COLOUR" meta commands from ldconfig.ldr to determine the color of any given code. For more details, an example, (...) (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad) !

Re: PreL3P 1.0 - Ping Onyx! —Tore Eriksson
(...) Fantastic piece of software, just what I've been looking for. Thanks Jim! I just can't believe your post isn't highlighted, but I guess it has to do with bad timing; all attention on LDraw.org committee elections... I've tried the Windows (...)          Re: PreL3P 1.0 - Ping Onyx! —Jim DeVona
(...) Thanks! I'm glad you find it useful. Your list of L3-supported colors was instrumental as a good default behavior. (...) I am pleased to hear it works well on Windows. Good suggestion regarding the done message. I'll add one. (...) Neat. That (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray)

         Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Tore Eriksson
(...) Well yes, it would, and it would surely have had its advantages to leave the "source" file completely untouched. But I think it would be even better do like I suggested, with the implementation towards L3PAO (and my own LDA application) in (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray)

        Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Philippe Hurbain
It would be interesting to be able to have a secondary remap file other than LDraw.ldr. For example, stone colors are not well supported by several programs other than L3P. If I want to build with these colors I generally use old greys, but it would (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

         Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Tore Eriksson
(...) You can always make your own "include file" with colour redifinitions in a .dat, like this experimental file I made some time ago. It redifines pink into medium blue and corrects the horrible L3 light green: To use it, all you have to do is (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

         Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Jim DeVona
(...) With a customized ldconfig file, you can use PreL3P to convert color codes directly to the hexadecimal equivalents of other other colors. For example, here are the default gray definitions: 0 !COLOUR Gray CODE 7 VALUE #C1C2C1 EDGE 0 0 !COLOUR (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

         Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Tore Eriksson
(...) You're fast! :) If my memory serves my well, I think my ldfilter utility did that - even though it wasn't its main purpose. Check out the "Color Filter" frame. (URL) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Jim DeVona
(...) too, like LDS and LDA. Anyway, does the new "prel3p model.ldr" syntax work with the drag and drop mechanism you mentioned? Jim (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Tore Eriksson
(...) I'm glad to hear that. Please note that I cannot update my Swipnet pages after changing ISP to Telia. The swipnet provider is kind enough to let my pages remain as long as I use their mail services which I prefer to. My more recent projects as (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Tore Eriksson
(...) Just a little thing I've noticed on the previously discussed long filenames issue. (Not that it really matters to me.) The original version of colortest.ldr was saved as COLORT~1.LDR.bak on my Win98SE PC, while the long name colortest.ldr was (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Jim DeVona
(...) True. You can still give options with this syntax ("prel3p +codes 4 model.ldr"), but I suspect there is no way to do so when using it by drag and drop. (...) If it could use a configuration file, what would be a standard place to look for it? (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Tore Eriksson
(...) No, but I can easily add some PreL3P options, just like I've added L3P options, in my LDA program. In that case, the command line options are better than the .ini way. (...)           Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Jim DeVona

          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Jim DeVona
(...) Well, I lied. I've implemented the meta commands instead of an INI file after all. I've also added a -map option to renumber color codes. This can be done separately or in conjunction with conversion to the hexadecimal color format. The (...) (17 years ago, 12-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

          Re: PreL3P 1.2 —Jim DeVona
(...) Jaco's (URL) question> about color scaling gave me the idea for this. By allowing meta commands anywhere in the model to be applied as it is processed, different color substitution schemes can be used for different parts of the model. So, if (...)          Re: PreL3P 1.0 —Philippe Hurbain
(...) That was exactly my point - perfect! (...) Probably outside prel3p scope indeed. Both LDDP and MLCad can change colors, but not if they are inside subfiles. To me the modified ldconfig is a good solution. Philo (17 years ago, 10-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)
