Ha ha ha! No harm done. It was just a perfect illustration of people not
knowing what to make of this stuff. Forgive me for using you as the
example. :)

Yes, they probably would. :) But some day in the not too distant future
the minifigs will learn that mecha are great for holding groceries and
getting you from home to the soccer game. And hey, if you need protection
from an occasional spinosaurus, it'll do much better job than Jack Stone.
