Well, from all of the many real-life mecha I've ever seen... 8?P
What I mean to say is, isn't it the details that MAKE it realistic?
Seriously, it's one thing to build a fire truck that looks like a fire
truck, but when you get into the fantasy genrés, you've got to balance the
creation of something that has never existed before with making that thing
look like it COULD exist. Is that more challenging? Not at all...just a
different way of doing things.
(I WILL however say that working to scale is probably a lot more rewarding
in the fantasy themes, since you have a chance to really bend the model to
match the elements you have to work with...that firetruck would look silly
if it was double the acceptable size for your minifig scale layout, towering
lke a monster truck over the figs, right?)
So I guess my final answer would be...both.
Matt
(Say, a monster truck fire engine model...hmmmm...)

| (...) Nah, I wouldn't say so. Poeple just have different tastes. I could say the same thing about trains. To *ME* trains all look basically the same, and I'm sure Mecha all look the same to certain people. Afterall, Mecha are mostly humanoid (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
