Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Mark Herzberg
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 2000 looks like a much better year than 1999, though I still wish they would un=juniorize town. Artic is way COOL. And now we have polar bears! Yahoo! It might be juniorized, but I really like the new highway pieces. (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Ryan Smith
I know one thing I'm buying a lot of!!! The elevated road plates #6600.That set is pretty neat by itself. Not much of a selection for town this year is there? (The elevated road plates, I think is the best idea TLG has had in a long time.) and I'm (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Eric Kingsley
(...) What a night to be sitting in a hotel room with a 14,400 connection!!! Argh! Anyway looks like the Falcon is just about as bad as we thought although the cockpit looks a bit better than previously thought and it is still good for pieces. Still (...)          Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Jason Brown
I still don't think the Falcon looks THAT bad. Cockpit to "saucer" could be improved, though. Still on my list of sets. :) The dinosaurs look cool, did you see the big prop plane in the mural in the middle of the catalog?? Coooolll. Looks like it (...)           Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Jason Brown
(...) Hmm... no I didn't. I don't think they've ever done 16 or above before! Wow. :) Finally some recognition of older LEGO fans. Um, expesive, LOTS of pieces. Hmmm... Kevin posted a close up of the Falcon (not from the page I wanted, but good (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Simon Robinson
(...) That does sound like really good news - I assume these are pretty much the first Lego sets for which the suggested age range is basically an adult range. What puzzles me though is *why* they are marked as from 16. They don't look especially (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Damian Garcia
Simon Robinson wrote in message ... (...) My guess would be to charge more. They figure if they market to adults, they can charge adult prices (as if they don't already). (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Richard Franks
(...) Well - if they are limited edition, then they'll sell-out, which is good. But not as good as if they weren't limited and they sold out as well! Ie - by limiting the numbers TLG will never *really* know how popular they would be. (...) Blame (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Todd Lehman
(...) My guess, FWIW, is that TLC is still reticent to admit that the products they sell actually appeal to very, very wide age ranges. IOW, if they'd marked it "from 11 years," then they'd be admitting that what 11-year-olds play with is also what (...) (25 years ago, 10-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Eric Kingsley
(...) I definitly think the new "Ultimate Collectors Series" sets are marketed almost directly to adults. For one, looking at all the pieces in these models my guess is that these models are probably going to go for $100+ each. I hope I am wrong (...)            Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Mike Stanley
(...) I'm the farthest thing from a Star Wars expert, but just from my memory of seeing the movies a couple of times, if the Collector's X-Wing is the same size or a little bigger than the current toy model, wouldn't that make the Falcon something (...)            Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Kya Morden
(...) It'd be fine with me, though I still think that even if it's about the same size as the X-Wing and if my guestimates are correct, that would still be a pretty huge MF parts-wise (bad english) so I would probably put it in the $300 price range. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Shaun Sullivan
(...) model-team MF is, as long as it fulfills a couple of criteria: (1) The scale must be absolutely self-consistent -i.e., no Kenner-esque huge cockpit and fat midsection (2) The detail should be intricate and as accururate to Canon as possible.            Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —James Simpson
(...) I wouldn't be willing to pay the kind of money that a large-scale limited edition model would go for...however, I'd love a small-scale, highly detailed Model-Team(ish) Falcon. I'm not so much concerned with size as with reasonable accuracy to (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Tom Stangl
I think they could sell a TON of a large scale MF if they did it right - release it as 6-10 subsets, and if you buy them all, it builds the whole thing. 1 - cockpit 2 - laser cannons with cockpits 3 - entrance ramp/nose 4 - chess table/room 5 - (...)           Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Scott Symer
(...) My guess is that it has something to do with how they expect the set to be used: this probably isn't the kind of model a young kid can 'whoosh' around a lot with in the living room - it's pretty clear they're thinking this is going to be (...)           Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Steve Bliss
(...) You might be on to something, there. But it could also be that the sets are rated 16+ because TLG didn't want to say "These sets are for adults". It seems obvious the display stands and placards are there to appeal to older builders, to make (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —James Brown

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Kya Morden
(...) Well, theoretically, you could throw about four or five of those 2x4x6/8? weight bricks that came with some of the floatable boats to act as a counterbalance in the base of that stand. As for keeping the thing actually on the stand, I guess (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Age range 16+ (was: Re: 2000 Scans are Online!) —Jonathan Little
(...) I may be stating the obvious here, because most other people that read these posts have a much keener eye to detail than I do, but has anyone noticed that the bases of the stands are actually buit from normal sloped lego pieces.          Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Hao-yang Wang
(...) You mean the one at (URL)? Finally, the pantoon plane is done correctly! However, it might as well be from the Artic theme. I don't know. Doesn't it look a bit too modern to be an Adventurers flyingboat? Either way, it is a cool plane. Overall (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.adventurers)

Re: 2000 Scans are Online! —Jason Brown
(...) Yup! (...) Nah, assuming all the Artic sets are listed in the Artic page (page 23, c00am-23), that leaves Adventurers, which the new ones arn't listed.
