Well said, Shiri. This to me, is the crux of the whole thing. Lugnet was (at
least partly) created as a response to the fact that RTL was/is unsegmented,
and by default, means people have to read, or filter, content they don't want
to see. A great deal of the content that people were objecting to is market-
related traffic. It was/is enough of a problem that a seperate Usenet forum
was proposed (rec.toys.lego.market) at *least* once that I'm aware of.
Part of Lugnet's design philosophy is the seperation of discussion and
marketing. Frankly, I don't think you're going to get anywhere with a
suggestion that brings the two closer together, or blurs the line, and also, I
don't think such a proposal *should* get anywhere.
If you want to see market and discussion intermingled, go to RTL.
Frankly, I don't see why you're continuing to defend an idea that has zero
public support, and such obvious public opposition.

| (...) Id be mad if I thought this would work. I suppose I really just wanted to see what the range of opinion is. The RTL point raised a few times is hard to argue against as it is very much a chicken & egg issue (IMO). If LUGNet does continue to (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
