There are some people who Really Don't Like Auctions.
They can't be filtered out from the web interface, which is used by a
lot of people.
To put auction announcements in, people would have to do something to
take them out, as opposed to them being put somewhere that those who
don't like them don't get to see them.
The themed groups are discussion groups, not announcement groups.
There's unlikely to be much (theme specific) discussion of an auction
announcement, so it's not adding any value to the group.
