Update:
Here's some sample input/output going down one currently-favored path...
The details of the content in this sample aren't important (it's just a
personal e-mail with some ramblings) but the makeup of it is important...
I wanted to grab something fairly technical, to make sure that this sort
of thing was very easy to write. It turned out to work exceptionally well.
Since this is mostly a code-thing, there's only one use of italics in this
example, and no use of bold or headers or lists, but lots and lots and lots
of switching between the default font and the teletypewriter font -- both in
the bodies of the paragraphs and in separate code blocks.

The important thing here in this sample is that both forms (the input as
well as the output) are nearly equally readable.
