Re: I resign from the LPRV committee

What on earth are you talking about? What is the LPRV committee? And why does your message have lines that cause me to need to scroll across about three screen widths? Tim (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Another resignation: I'm stepping down.

Lenny and Kevin, I've been (intentionally) out of the loop on internal processes for over a year now. But I want you to know that I see your posts, and that this makes me sad. I feel bad that you were hurt by the community's comments. I remember (...) (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: I resign from the LPRV committee

Kevin, You speak as if you are some great martyr for a cause. Well, I hope you get what you want - whatever that is. I personally find this whole post wrong, misinformed and offensive. The fact that it already has so many spotlights just makes me (...) (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Another resignation: I'm stepping down.

Dear Lugnet, Following the recent events concerning Administrator responsibility to the community, I have decided to resign my position. Several users have publically called my motives into question - have accused me of using my Admin powers for a (...) (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX) !!

  Application for Lugnet Membership

Hi all, More than a month ago I applied for Lugnet membership. It took some time to get the money transfer organized (I'm no paypal member, and other means where simply not acceptable because of the banking fees involved), but Rene of 1000steine.de (...)   I resign from the LPRV committee

The story you are about to hear is true, but the names were changed to protect the innocent..... Freddy-engineer used to really enjoy Tengul, a park where he and friends talked about their favorite toy, LEGO. Freddy enjoyed this park very much and (...)   Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) The best example by far was the Toy Fair. Larry posted his pictures to .announce and to .lego, giving it only a +1 (since .announce is +1 and .lego is -1). He also posted it on a Friday (or so I seem to recall), and IIRC a bunch of MOC's had (...) (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) While this would be interesting, I think it's a separate problem. As illustrated in this thread there are postings that make the Spotlight that have no human rating applied to them. Since the Top Stories list has a cap on the number of (...) (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) Your quote doesn't refute my statement, nor does it support yours. I would say that Lugnet is home to the LEGO Community, and that MOCs are a key importance to that community. Do you think that is incorrect? Since MOCs are the clearest (...) (19 years ago, 18-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) Is that right? The top four items are now the Brickfest announcement, two on the survey. and one on a mecha contest. Between them they have 36 spotlights ('human recommendations'). Do those 'human recommendations' include the effects of the (...) (19 years ago, 17-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) Is LUGNET about MOCs? I thought it was meant to be a place for the LEGO Community to center around. "Where minds connect: You are not alone! LUGNET is home to thousands of LEGO fans of all ages. We are a community which never sleeps...." But (...) (19 years ago, 17-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) I personally would be more convinced if you could find some threads that SHOULD be there, but aren't. Also include whether those threads have been spotlighted or not. If Lugnet is about LEGO, and LEGO MOCs in particular, I think added weight (...) (19 years ago, 17-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) Replying to my own post and I don't think anyone is really looking at this thread anymore anyway, even though it continues to be a "top stories" item. I just wanted to metion that now, 24 hours later, the conditions of the above referenced (...) (19 years ago, 17-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) I don't know about LUGNET's highlighting, but as for Brickshelf - when I hit reload/refresh, the only thing that seems to change is the "ad" that seems to be randomly placed amoung the folder spots. The folders' order of appearance does not (...) (19 years ago, 16-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) As a software developer, I don’t think this would be all *that* bad, at least performance wise. First, you’d calculate a ranking of postings which would be similar to how you create the spotlight list today. Call this new (internal list) the (...)   Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) Actually, the easiest way to make this work for everyone is to have the weighting of the spotlights settable for each person's account. That way if I really care about color postings, I can weight that higher than someone who's sick and tired (...) (19 years ago, 16-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

Re: Compromised Functionality on Lugnet and Brickshelf?

(...) You'd think people would do this, but they clearly don't. It's "too hard" for people to post their pictures to their Bricklink folders, wait for them to be moderated, then post to Lugnet. It's easier for people to do both at the same time (or (...) (19 years ago, 15-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)
