Re: Off Topic: New location for Austalia

(...) Oh. I see. Jamie: All of the loc groups are parallelized and orthogonalized by country. The two-letter designators (that is, the xx's in lugnet.loc.xx) are the countries' respective Internet first-level domains, so as long as New Zealand has (...)   Re: .loc.bn (Brunei)

Fans with internet connections, not really :) West Malaysia was formerly called Malaya and has 11 states and Malaysia's Federal Territory (KL). It is (...)   Re: Howto message search with nntp client

(...) NNTP (and SMTP and many other Internet protocols) are designed in such a way that extensions are welcomed -- as long as (typically) they're identified as such. For example, another NNTP extension which is popular is the 'XOVER' command -- it (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Howto message search with nntp client

(...) Oops, the search text was indeed transmitted. BTW, RFC 0997 mentions no command "XPAT", so I don't know where Netscape Communicator got *that* from. Perhaps Microsoft isn't the only company trying to redefine the Internet. :-P Cheers, - (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Cracking down on unauthorized image links

(...) I agree with all of the above (in principle); those were some of my first thoughts as well. But like I said before, "All of these [gripes of his] are tangible concerns which are likely to resurface again and again among the general Internet (...)   Re: Cracking down on unauthorized image links

(...) Not me personally, no, but this IS the internet, if someone's doing it, someone else almost certainly is as well. Heck... a quick yahoo search using auction and image yielded a few. I have not examined these at all. (URL) Larry Pieniazek (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.faq)

  Re: problem with dat groups.

(...) What kind of Internet connection are you on (what speed) and where are you located? Do you have a dynamic or static IP address? I could do a traceroute to your IP address and see what kinds of latency there is. I don't think I've seen it (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Problems reading messages & with cookie

I'm having 2 problems with the web interface to the LUGNET newsgroups using Internet Explorer 3.03 and Windows 3.1: 1) When I try and follow a link to a specific message I get an error message: "This program does not support the protocol for (...) (...) It's probably the same scenario that Mike Stanley is seeing, but I'm not so sure sometimes. I'm accessing LUGNET around the hours of 9 AM to 6 PM MDT, in Utah. I'm on a 100Mb LAN connected through Novell's Internet link, which is typically (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
