To put in my 2 cents...I'd say the set is a fake. My reasoning is: 1) Step 1 uses a 2x2 corner plate, which I don't believe were available then. [It is also shown as a 2x2 plate here] 2) In step 2 this piece changes shape into 2 2x1's 3) Step 4 (...) (25 years ago, 17-May-00, to lugnet.general)

Ray, Whoops, just read my message again, and realised I had stated STEPPER motor, and not the intended SERVO motor. I have used the HB to control 4 SERVO motors. The SERVO's had an external 5V power. It is possible that two other things are happening here. 1) The images shown are from a prototype catalog that an old designer kept in his or her collection. I can't provide you information on *just* sets complete in boxes.. but I can give you the range of sets that have sold on ebay within the last six months that are in the "complete" range... low prices are generally just the bricks.. no instructions, (...) Hello all! Today I received a very nice gift (as 'payment' for my BlockCAD program) - three _very_ old Lego bricks. I'd have to agree that this is a fake. My reasons: 1) Instructions are too crude, even by 60's standards. Also, have a look at the following URL...it's supposed to be another page from the same booklet but the quality is many times greater! (URL) (...) (25 years ago, 17-May-00, to lugnet.general)
