There's the slogan "All New Silver Bricks!" and the arrow goes to a 1x2
brick with grille
(http://www.rene-hoffmeister.de/1000steine/teilereferenz/searchcsv.pl?method=exact&search=2877).
But I can't see if all these 1x2 bricks are silver or only one per car/set.

Fine set of cars. But as for the 'silver': I fear those bricks are molded in
the new swirly plastic that is supposed to look metallic, but actually looks
like really cheap plastic. May still be nice for a change as opposed to
regular bricks, but not half als great as actual chromed pieces, especially
for these train cars.

As for the windows; TLG may prefer thin panels here because they are much
cheaper (single part) than classic train windows (two parts).

That's what I assumed.  First time I saw it is in the printed curved wings
of the Green Goblin's flyer <set:1374>.  I got a handful of bricks in it
from the RLD backstage visit to LLW, left over from their Virgin Atlantic
747-400 cockpit model.  It's a little more shiny than normal bricks, but you
can clearly see flow lines from the injection process.  With light at some
angles it doesn't even look any different from light grey.

It all depends on the mould - if the flow lines all show up on the side of
the bricks with horizontal ridges, it'll look bad.  If the flow lines are on
the vertical ridge side, and so hidden inside the model, it'll be alright.
Whether it'll look good with just some silver amongst the grey though I
don't know.
