| | | | | Well after a few days of work I threw together some webpages for my pics,
added some extra stuff, and there is more to come! Check it out.
http://www.spicyworld.com/amateurs/moulton/index.html
Suggestions are welcome! I still have to finish my main logo, and the
description, armament, propulsion information is actually going to be
redesigned so that when you move the mouse on the ship name it'll show up as
an image on the same page, gotta play with the image sizes though first, find
something suitable that works well.
PS in case you're wondering the reason I chose spicyworld as a home for my
site was that it lets you upload multiple files at one time, it's free, and
there's no spam, so you can't really complain. :)
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Matt,
This is going to sound strange, but when I hold my cursor over the icon next
to "Data Files - under construction", I see it should bring me to
http://www.spicyworld.com/amateurs/moulton/data.html, but when I click on it,
it brings me to a link called Http://www.classicdate.com
I can't explain it, but I thought you should know...

hmmm...that is strange, not to worry though I've moved! Yah it's only been a
day but it suddenly occured to me that my Inet account gives me 5mb so I
figured I'd go ahead and use it. Here's the new url:
http://members.hscis.net/~moulton/
On that site the Data Files leads to my testing page for now, you might want
to check it out though it has a concept that I might try incorporating (if I
can get the image files under 10kb). Be warned though it make take a minute
or so to load. Everything else is the same except I changed it so that
Netscape users won't see " " in front of the picture descriptions. :)

What struck me the most about your pages were the use of colored lights in
some of your photographs. That is an excellent way of getting pictures of
predominantly black constructions without having them look like a big muddy
out of focus mess. Great job!

Umm, the greenish tinge is apparently because he painted the bricks....

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Nope, I sure didn't. It was actually an after effect of the scanner light
reflecting off the blue lights. The majority of those images are not
pictures, I just put the ship right in the scanner. The only thing that is
painted is the top window thing of the Inferno, and the bottom hull sections
of the Behemoth (mainly because I thought having a brown bottom might look a
bit odd). The reason I painted the window on the Inferno is because I felt
that it allready had too much color in it already what with 3 different colors
of lights. Using colored lights though when actually taking real pictures is
a really good idea and I'll have to try that at some point. And trust me on
this on, Partha paints are not shiny. Model paint was too expensive, and I
like the Partha paints in that they're temporary.

D'ohh!!! There I go again! I'm really sorry, I didn't read your previous
messages properly, I remembered that you said you did paint bricks, but I
always assumed that that was why they looked greenish. Now that I look back
on those messages, I realise that couldn't be the case.
Sorry again! :-)

| Hey, nice stuff. In particular, I like your weapons section. Even for
minifig-held weapons, you have some good design ideas I hadn't thought off.

| Great additions. I like the "info" section. I plan on doing that for my stuff
soon. I am wondering one thing though. Why in the world did you make such a
cool looking ship and give it crappy Star Trek technology.

Thanks! I'll have updates for it within the next couple days. I'm gonna scan
some more of my ships and maybe some of the larger weapons arrays (the smaller
ones all attach to a ship while the larger ones can operate on their own).

LOL...Not really sure actually, I guess cause Trek technology is so
mainstream, and I like some of the ideas they have, like the weapons arrays
and those self replicating mines. I think that a lot of my ideas come from
Star Trek...hmmm...would that make me a...*gasp*...trekie?! 0_o

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Egad! That means whenever your ship gets shot in the rear, half the
bridge blows up and shields drop to 28%.
I suppose the Star Trek universe never heard of redundancy or fuse
boxes.

Don't forget the Photon Torpedos that totally wreck a ship, with all the power
of a hand gernade. (Ever seen Star Trek 5. "Fire a torpedo on my position."
Then JUMPS out of the way.) Seriously though Star Trek weapons are junk.
Those self replicating mines are a good idea but are way too weak to be
effective against a real military vessel. (A Star Destroyer for example.)

Obviously not.

Uh oh, I don't think we should start that debate in here...LOL My explanation
is that while they share similar names the actual tech specs are completely
different. That would be a cool fight though...The Enterprise vs The Super
Star Destroyer...he he he...

Maybe in the Star Trek universe they never invented fuse boxes...-ZAP- "Dammit

Ya that would be for lugnet.off-topic.debate

Ah. Well that is good to know. The tech specs would have a single Star
Destroyer wiping out the entire fleet at Wolf 359, including the Borg Cube.

An Imperial Star Destroyer would be total overkill let alone an SSD.

ROTFL...there ya go, my ships all come equipped with multiple fuse boxes. :)
Doesn't it seem odd though that in Star Trek things blow up and make all sorts
of cool noises...I mean, I though space was a vacuum.
-Matthew
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I'm willing to forgive the "noises in space" just because it makes the TV
shows/Movies more exciting.

Yah, that and the fact that space *isn't* a vacuum. There is an extremely
small amount of gas and dust per cubic meter in yer average space. This
amount increases near stars and plantery bodies, which are constantly ejecting
gases and dust. And then the amount really increases near an exploding
spaceship, for hopefully obvious reasons. And if enough of these chunks of
debris hits the hull of *your* ship, you'll definitely hear something.
Too bad for Star Trek, though -- the matter from the explosion has to reach
your ship before you hear it. Depending upon your distance from the
explosion, the "sound" could actually be delayed for weeks. :-P

Hi!
I really like what you have here. I love the little stuff like the guns and
the mines (I really must steal that design BTW) and the ships are pretty good
from what I can tell. Since you do a lot of modeling in black, they are
extremely dark, and the detail is lost somewhat. I recommend buying a large
white poster board and doing the photography outside in bright sunlight.
Thats my only suggestion tho (although I heartily agree with the guy that said
you should drop the Trek technology). Keep up the good work!
Are you going to set up your page like a tech company? If so, when I get my
Black Cresecent Staryards page up I want to link to your page as our small
arms supplier, is that ok?
cheers!

Yah, I think maybe I need to get a new camera too, the one I have doesn't take
close up shots very well, they all turn out blurry. The big thing is waiting
for a bright sunny day, it's been kinda cloudy lately.
> Thats my only suggestion tho (although I heartily agree with the guy that said

Well I like some of the names, doesn't mean they work the same or anything,
technically I could be copying Nasa as they keep stealing Star Trek names and
applying them to their own stuff, and it seems to work okay (with the
exception of the Mars polar lander, but hey, I'm sure that was just a fluke).

That's fine with me, I've actually considered selling Lego weapons and
stuff...like for real. Like if a person wanted they could buy like 20 or 30
replication mines, or weapons arrays, that sort of thing. Not sure if people
would be really interested in it though.
The big thing I want to do is to start making instructions but so far the Lego
programs I've tried don't work so well...at least for me. I found LeoCad to
be the best but I still had a terrible time trying to get things to line up
correctly and on the same plane, and that was just trying to make like
weapons, never mind the ships. I think maybe if I play with it enough though
everyday I'll eventually get the hang of it. I figure that would be better
than taking pictures because then I can do it in various colors and you can
even see how to build it.
If I do get good I might try making real Lego designs, but that makes me
wonder...is that copyright infringement? I mean if I take a brand new set,
and recreate the instructions using LeoCad...is it violating copyright?
