See, this is what I get for going into Comp.Eng. instead of Civil.  :-)

So unless I'm mistaken, (and yes it happens all too often) Arne's, (and
James') and all of Ben's are all various examples of bow truss bridges.
All the more reason to get "T1" built I guess.  The glue is drying now
on part of it - the 32x96 grey "brick" baseplate.  Here's a tip - don't
try to use bare hands with the metal lid of a rubber cement brush in an
un-heated garage when it's minus 27 degrees outside/inside the garage.  ;-)

That would be this one:

Yes - A beauty - When the Guiness PNLTC stuff was going on with
that massive suspension bridge I commented that Ben's was the
longer _pure_ LEGO bridge because (I forget his name) used string.
Nothing wrong with that - it's a suspension bridge - of course it's
going to use string.  For longest LEGO bridge, it's probably always
going to be a suspension bridge - just the nature of bridges.

Mmmm - Outdoor LEGO train layouts - <more drool> - Mmmm - very nice.

The yellow Technic bridge is a bow truss. It is not an arch. Truss members are either in tension or compression and truss joints are assumed to be pinned or hinged. An arch works in compression. All of the bridges mentioned are cool! Build On! John (...) (24 years ago, 10-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains)
