Speaking of civil engineering, the American Society of Civil Engineers
produces a 'Bridges' calender every year that features some very
interesting and unique bridges. I have the 1999 and 2000 ones and I
have several lego projects on the back burner inspired from it.
I think they have some neat books on bridges (maybe something similat to
a field guide) from within their bookstore. You can see pics of next
year's bridges at:
