I think a 3-truck Shay would also make a lovely set:

A log wagon could go with it. I have a prototype chassis with BBB wheels
and working transmission shafts, though the engine space is a bit of a
squash!

I doubt a Shay would be possible in 6 wide - even with non working shafts,
they have to be beside the wheels, requiring at least 8 wide.

Hmm... how wide is a motor, with the truck sideframes? THere is stuff outside
the wheels and they are not much wider (if at all) than 6.
Im thinking that if cost was no object, and you werent trying to get something
that actually worked, you could get pretty narrow with some sort of bogus cast
truck sideframe thing.
Now, really, the bevel gears that transfer power from the shafts to the wheels
OUGHT to be pretty wide, but what if you just wanted to fake it?
I dont think Id WANT one of those... Im just saying you could do it for a lot
less than 10. maybe even less than 8 (although wider on one side than the other.
Give us a Climax or Heisler instead, those can be narrower I think. Log bunker
cars would be awesome too.
