I've seen the Wuppertahnbahn diorama too, it's great! What's the URL again?

BTW Have you considered using just the power rails from the 12v system for
the upper track. This way you get the power, the single rail look, yet the
double rail geometry for a multi-contact rolling surface.

(I couldn't find the .dats for these...)

Yeah, powering the train was a primary design target.  I went with 9v track
as most readily available power source for me.  However, I haven't solved
the clearance issue of the 9v track power connectors sticking out and
interfering with the car support arms.

I wonder if putting the power connectors on switches (turnouts) on the
curved outer leg of an unused spur would help at all? Arrange your trackage
so that it's the straight leg (where there is no turnout stand to interfere)
that is used by the train. Gotta think about the geometry of that but this
way you're bringing in power from the side that isn't contacted. Maybe???

That particular Wuppertahnbahn is unpowered, yes. There is another much
larger Wuppertahlbahn in the Model Team section that is powered.

(...) This would be an interesting challenge to work with. You would need to use the 70s era power pickups, and then attach wires to them to power a motor. Narrow tires can be run in the gap between the two rails giving very positive guidance. Frank (23 years ago, 18-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains)
