Missing R/C Trains on Lego.com and AFOL "Dream Train Set"

Happy Holidays Everyone, Does anyone know what is going on with the R/C trains (7898& 7897) on LEGO.com? If you do a search for trains there is no mention of the R/C trains. You can only find them if you know the correct set number or search using (...) (18 years ago, 26-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Question for you knowledgeable Train-heads

(...) Well, confession is good for the soul, but I'm curious as to what exactly you have learned from these sources, Dave! Some possiblities from "I've Been Working On The Railroad": "I've been working on the railroad, all the live-long day" (a job (...) (18 years ago, 26-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: From the TCLTC Proving Grounds....

(...) Hello, Dean- Light sensors. We have found that a solution based on timing rarely works out in these applications because there are too many variables which muck it up. Check out these images to see how he did it: (2 URLs) Funky, indeed:-) JOHN (18 years ago, 26-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org, FTX)

Re: From the TCLTC Proving Grounds....

(...) ABSolutely! First, just to be clear, I have nothing to do with the Mindstorming in our club-- it is all done by my son Ross (except acquisition;-) He made a couple of images for me to post that should help you see how he's doing it: (2 URLs) (...)   Re: Super Chief Engine Available from S@H? // Wear + Friction on new wheel sets

(...) I received my two Super Chief sets from LEGO S@H the other day. It must have been some excess inventory they stumbled across, because everything looks like part of the original production run - old wheelsets, and 2002 dates on the boxes. So, (...)   Re: Question for you knowledgeable Train-heads

I was going through some old issues of Model Railroader the other week looking for some inspiration and came across a model of a Southern Pacific transfer caboose. At this point I am forced to admit that nearly everything I know about trains comes from "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "The Little Red Caboose," with additional blanks filled in by Thomas the Tank Engine. (...) The Penn Central car is a transfer caboose. Here is a Wikipedia page with a description about half way down. (URL) I'm not sure about the other. It's most likely some type of Maintenance of way equipment. What type I don't know. (URL) Cale (18 years ago, 25-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Question for you knowledgeable Train-heads

(...) As it appears to have a compressor on board, my guess would be either a spike remover or a spot tamper, but can't be sure. I'll ask around. Merry Christmas! ROSCO (18 years ago, 25-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

The teal one would probaly be a type of caboose. Mind you there are a bunch of different designs out there, some of which were for special purposes. This was probaly a work train related one.   Question for you knowledgeable Train-heads

Recently while on a walk with my son, I took some pictures of a few train cars that have been sort of on display in my town for at least all of the 3 1/2 years we've lived here.   Re: New TLC standard for containers?

It makes a lot of sense - give the KIDS a container large enough to actually have room for placing things inside. AFOLs can always use their own/old "standard". (18 years ago, 24-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains)
