Re: What´s so special about trains?

(...) I grew up next to the train tracks, so I've seen thousands and thousands of trains, and I've always been fascinated by them. (...) Oh yea, that's the best! Show us a picture of a train, and we'll try to build it! Lego gives you complete (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What´s so special about trains?

(...) Sounds to me like you just answered your own question. Also as an adult collector it's a little less embarrassing to show other adults (who think of legos as kids toys) a nice model train layout on a table then just a setup of lego buildings (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  What´s so special about trains?

Why does so many people love trains? Is it because you can build scale-models of real trains? Because they move? Because you like model railroads? Because it´s lego? Because it gives your town a nice addition? --Tobias (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Questions from a trains idiot

(...) Boy is it so nice that 3225 does not come with track or regulator (I don't know about others, but I have a lot more curved track than I need). I may be reaching the point where I have more train motors than I need, but so far I'm not overly (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Questions from a trains idiot

(...) Larry! some of us don't have enough space to have trains of 15 american cars...besides which, it would take 5 motors to get it up the grade...it takes 3 under 9 cars now... (...) _or_ you can use the 2x2 plate turntables. Not as good a design, (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Questions from a trains idiot

(...) Sets 4565 and 4560 (german only) do not come with a controller. However, if you are willing to trade some lego, I have 6 availabe (all hardly used, I only used them for the VicLUG picnic this summer). I also have curved track availabe to get (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Questions from a trains idiot

Larry Pieniazek wrote: <snip good advice> (...) Not necessarily. If you want to model "Eurotrash", as Lar so eloquently puts it, then use the buffers and bogie plates. I model US style locos and cars and so I don't use the buffers. Instead I use (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Hiawatha

(...) And this coming from a guy who I constantly needle because he wants to build 8 wide trains... -blush- And the best part? Now that I have pictures of the locomotive, I can actually rebuild it after its trip to the floor! I sat with all the (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Questions from a trains idiot

(...) Yes. (...) It varies. 3225 comes without track or a regulator. 4565 comes without a regulator but with track. 4559 comes with both. 4561 comes with both. There is a version (europe only, I think) of 4561, numbered 4560, that comes without a (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Questions from a trains idiot

(...) Hi! I only have the 12V Trains, but I'm sure there are many people out there to correct me where I go wrong or fill in the gaps :-) (...) The train sets come with a speed regulator and will run out of the box. However I heard a rumour that (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Questions from a trains idiot

Hey Y'all: I plan on buying one of the fine train sets currently available from Shop@Home and was wondering about a few things. I assume the sets that come with track are complete and will run with the given accessories. I gather that rather than an (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 4558 - wishful thinking?

(...) Well.... We are using orange, red, and black/gray for the colors as seen here: (URL) you are looking at is my black roofed 8 wide diner, and 2 gray-roofed 6 wide passenger cars. The Hiawatha had many color iterations; some reproducible, and (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 4558 - wishful thinking?

(...) Wow! I absolutely love passenger trains. Are you guys using orange, brown and black as your primary colors for this model? Also what time period are you guys aiming for with this train? J. Warren (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego train club for the Saint Louis area?

(...) We should post a date, time and place to meet then see how many people will post back saying that they could meet at that time. That's the best way I figure to get this thing rolling.   Re: 4558 - wishful thinking?

(...) Steve Demlow found 25 sets of the 6553 (URL) for me which contain 2 a set. The 4565 Freight and Crane Railway has 4. We (GMLTC) have incorporated them into our new Milwaukee Road Hiawatha passenger train. Pics coming soon:-) -John (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego train club for the Saint Louis area?

(...) I live in the South St. Louis area. I would be interested to help to get something rolling. I would think that there would be plenty of people in this part of the country to make something work. (...) Hmmm, I don't know, Ben. I have a feeling that you are going to break down and at LEAST use some of those metroliner windows on the lower levels of your superliner cars. :) John Warren I apologize for posting yet another blank message. The (...) (25 years ago, 18-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)
