Why does so many people love trains?

Is it because you can build scale-models of real trains?
Because they move?
Because you like model railroads?
Because it´s lego?
Because it gives your town a nice addition?

Sounds to me like you just answered your own question.  Also as an adult
collector it's a little less embarrassing to show other adults (who think of
legos as kids toys) a nice model train layout on a table then just a setup of
lego buildings and cars.  The aspect of the "train" in the layout seems to give
the profile of a more "respectable hobby" in some peoples eyes. :)
