  Where to start
 
Hi, New to trains - just the station so far ... looking for advice on what to get or look out for. Have to remember youngsters (5.5 & 7.5) who aren't too keen on used sets (it's great opening those baggies) so I may have to spring for a new one (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

I'm not a LEGO trainbuilder, but I've been into model trains for years. and this is an idea I got from some modeltrain book: forget about ramps. What? Forget about ramps. Think Moses, mountain.... I've decided to tackle the 80cm (K) E gun on my own... The prototype stood 35 feet high, that should work out to about 20 bricks high. This gun had 80 wheels! I guess I'll build from the ground up. Hi Sonnich, the blue engine is a german "E 10" electric engine. I think it had it'S best days in the 60's and 70's, but I am not sure about that. The builder is Frank "Pudie" Abel, who was at Mülheim last October to. He is one of the best german (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Some guys just love to gloat! So TOM how about building an 8 wide metroliner? I've completed a new SW1 8 wide switcher, and have rebuilt the 8 wide hopper. Its much better. You want a 25-car Metroliner? I can do that ;-) I've just been playing around with designs for various cars. I have enough Metroliners, I just need to figure out HOW MANY of each car to make. (...) Good point. No, you can't. The tender uses some black pieces (the rear panel for instance) and red lights from the colour bag, as well as (obviously) several of the coloured bricks (1x2s, a 1x6, 1x1s with handles). You have to rob these back (...) (24 years ago, 26-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)
