It works like this:
3740 Small loco
3741 Large loco
3742 Tender
3743 Blue parts
3744 Green parts
3745 Black parts
3746 Brown parts
3747 *DARK* Grey parts
Either version of the small loco can be built from 3740 plus a colour pack.
It works the same for the large loco using 3741 and the tender using 3742.
The reason for having black (plus white, dark grey and trans whatever!) bits
in the colour bag is because they're common to all trains (e.g. boiler front
'dish', cab roof parts, etc.). It may also be the case that some parts might
be needed for the loco _OR_ tender depending upon version, but NOT both...
Has anyone with a tender train built the non-tender loco with the tender
still intact?
Some common parts (e.g. minifig dresses used to support the boiler, etc.)
are NOT in the colour bag. This might just be so that the loco box isn't too
empty! OTOH, it might indicate that more sets are on the way, as per an
e-mail I received from LEGO Europe: "There are lots more to come too, so
keep checking the website!" :-)
