  Re: Pic: New Green Building

(...) I'm sorry to butt in on this thread, but a person can have a solid building and still have it nicely detailed on the inside. Just follow Kevin Wilson's example and have your roof and each flor section removable to allow others to see the (...)   Re: Pics: JAC Bethgon Coalporter

(...) Thanks. (...) Yes. (...) Nope. In fact, I needed to use a 1x2 center stud for that, because I'm 8 wide at the bottom. The car started out as an 8 wide, but counting the offset of the ribs on each side, it totals 9. Now I normally wouldn't (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: what is the rarest train set?

(...) The most expensive train set ever has been the 7750 MISB: it went for over 4000 DM (1800 .. 1900 $) 4 weeks ago. In my opinion these are rare sets of each series: blue: 113, 115, 118, 119, 164, 166, 167, 183, 722 grey: 7720, 7727, 7730, 7740, (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Pics: JAC Bethgon Coalporter

(...) It sure is purdy! I'll have to add this to my list of thing that I should probably try to copy. The ribs are offset by 1/2 stud? Did you go 9 so you could get that centerline support beam in the right place? Chris P.S. I don't think I'll ever (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Pic: New Green Building

(...) Let me start by saying that I apologize if it seemed as though I was attacking GMLTC or any other group. That was the furthest from my mind. I was simply trying to put forth the idea that this is supposed to be fun and from the thread so far (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: Pic: New Green Building

Actually, that's not what I was saying. In this particular instance, one can see into the building. And the ones next to it that are full of activity. If you can't see in, I'd agree that there is no reason to do the detailing unless one wants. (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: Pic: New Green Building

(...) Uh oh! Guess I'm boring as well. I only furnish the first floor of those buildings that you can see into. I never even make floors for the other "floors." Why bother if you can't see in anyway? Waste of brick. No wonder my buildings aren't (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Two points... 1) a minor point of information: (...) Can you elaborate on what playtheme vs. miniland is?   Re: Pic: New Green Building

(...) A minor addition: If we make our buildings using a 'standard' footprint, it will allow us to mix & match them a little bit, so perhaps our town might get re-arranged between (or during!) shows.   Re: Pic: New Green Building

John Neal makes this same point in another post as well. The GMLTC layout is different from most others in that Conan has enough bricks to build the whole 16-module section with his own bricks. It's less like other layouts where people each bring (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: Pic: New Green Building

(...) Hey Scott- Let me just jump in here and say that the GMLTC is unique in a few ways. First, since we are solid modules of bricks, everything must have an exact place, and usually that will not change for the life of the layout. The GFLTC and (...)
